Cineplex (TSX): Is this a good stock to buy? They’re opening 25 theatres in Canada tomorrow and potentially coming to an agreement to increase theatre capacity. With a 13.55% dividend, I’m sure there’s something that I’m missing if they’re willing to give out such a high percentage.
They can always change the dividend later. It’s a loss leader to get people to invest, then after it tanks immediately after the IPO, they’ll have plenty of bag holders that are on the hook deep enough that they won’t sell until the business becomes a success. Buy it if you have to, but realize that you’re going to be long term investing in a dying industry. Arguably, with the newest LED technology, tax incentives for building construction and ownership, and a large enough market share to negotiate favorable rates with studios, movie theaters could be huge at $5 a ticket versus the $4.99 direct to digital 24 hour rental that the studios are letting streaming services charge, but not until social distancing is relaxed enough that you can fill theaters.

Buy Workhorse! If you want to double, or possibly triple your money over time, at $16 today this is a great long term investment! The US Postal Service is about to award a $6.3 Billion contract to replace their old fleet of 163,000 trucks, and only four companies were allowed to bid on the contract. Out of all four companies, Workhorse has the highest chance to win either all, or at least part of the contract. Why? Workhorse is the only company who is offering a full electric delivery truck. They also already have contracts with UPS and DHL to build their delivery trucks. Two of the four companies competing for the contract are foreign owned companies, so Workhorse has an advantage since they are an American company based in Ohio. By the way, their manufacturing plant is in Indiana, Vice President Mike Pence’s home state! Trump even tweeted about Workhorse back in May!
The Postal Service should announce the winner of the contract within the next 30-45 days. At the very latest, by Sept 30. The contract will be awarded to either one or two companies.
